A 24-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court facing charges brought by the DPP on foot of the Garda investigation into the death of model Katy French in December 2007.

At Navan District Court yesterday, Det Garda Niall O’Donnell told Judge Tom Fitzpatrick he had served the book of evidence, which contains the prosecution evidence, on the accused that morning.

Before the court was Russell Memery, of Yellow Clay Manor, Navan.

It is alleged that on December 1st, 2007, at the Statoil service station at Bracetown, Clonee, Co Meath, he conspired with persons not before the court to possess a controlled drug to supply to another.

His solicitor, Miriam Regan, said she was seeking a short adjournment to consider the book of evidence and had spoken to State Solicitor Vincent O’Reilly about it. He had said he had no difficulty with that.

The judge adjourned the case until April 1st next.

Ms French (24) died in hospital on December 6th, 2007. A postmortem revealed she had suffered brain damage and traces of cocaine were found in her system.
