A 24-year-old man has been injured in a paramilitary style shooting in Co Antrim, while the condition of a 21-year-old man stabbed in Belfast earlier this morning is improving.

The 24-year-old is being treated in hospital after he was shot in his right leg in the Woodburn Estate area of Carrickfergus at around midday.

Police believe three masked men dragged the man into an alley off Maple Gardens and shot him once.

Meanwhile, Police have appealed for information in relation to the stabbing of a man outside a hotel in south Belfast.

A 21-year-old man was described as being in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in the neck in Belfast's university area. His condition has since been described as stable.

He was attacked by four people in University Street at around 1.30 a.m. when he was stabbed with a broken bottle.

A 23-year-old man is being questioned in connection with the incident.
