Man held over Louth death hospitalised

A man being questioned about the fatal stabbing of a man in Co Louth yesterday afternoon has been taken to hospital.

Two other men, who were also being questioned in relation to the incident in Carlingford, are appearing in court charged with assault.

The three were arrested for questioning over the the death of a fourth man whose body was found yesterday afternoon close to a caravan beside a house under construction on an elevated site overlooking the village and Carlingford Lough.

Gardaí today named the dead man as Joseph Hosford (44) from Mountain Park, Carlingford, A post mortem that ended today confirmed he died from a stab wound. A Garda spokesman said: "Two men will appear at Drogheda District Court in relation to an assault on another person during this incident."

The three men in custody were aged 28, 29 and 46. They were taken to Dundalk Garda station and detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act yesterday.

The spokesman was unable to say which men were due in court.
