The 22-year-old man was arrested shortly after 11.30pm last night in the Dublin area. He is being held at Finglas Garda station under the provisions of section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gaynor (22), a father of two, was shot dead in Finglas in a gangland-style attack on August 14th.

Gaynor was walking with his partner and two young children at the junction of Barnamore Crescent and Saint Helena’s Road in Finglas when he was attacked. A gunman walked up to him and fired a number of shots from a handgun, at least one of which fatally wounded him in the neck.

He was taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The killer ran from the scene and escaped by climbing over railings into the Carrigallen and Gortmore housing estates.
