Man held over Galway murder

A man held in connection with the murder of a supermarket worker in Galway last month remains in custody this morning.

A man held in connection with the murder of a supermarket worker in Galway last month remains in custody this morning.

The 27-year-old was arrested yesterday in Dublin and questioned over the stabbing of Kieran Cunningham (20) on June 3rd.

Mr Cunningham, a staff member of Hughes's supermarket in Claregalway, suffered multiple stab wounds minutes after leaving a nightclub near Eyre Square.

He was found by friends minutes after the assault at Williamsgate Street, and was rushed to University College Hospital, Galway, where he died several hours later.

The man is currently being detained at Galway Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
