A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murders of two soldiers outside a military base in Northern Ireland earlier this year.

Sappers Mark Quinsey (23) from Birmingham and Patrick Azimkar (21) from London were shot dead at the gates of Massereene Army barracks in March as they waited for a pizza delivery.

The 44-year-old man, detained by police in in the North last night, was also questioned about the attempted murder of five other people in the same gun attack on March 7th - which was later claimed by the Real IRA.

The attack took place two days before a policeman was shot dead by the Continuity IRA in Craigavon, Co Armagh.
