The RUC has arrested a man in relation to the shooting dead of a man in his 30s in Co Armagh overnight.
The shooting occurred at a house in Tandragee, Co Armagh, at around 11 p.m. The man was shot several times in the head by a gang that broke into his house.
The RUC confirmed a man was detained in the Portadown area of Co Armagh.
The RUC reported a silver Audi pulled up outside the house shortly before the incident. The vehicle was later found abandoned and on fire a few miles away.
An RUC spokeswoman told ireland.comhe would not comment on reports the shooting was linked to feuding between the Loyalist Volunteer Force and the Ulster Volunteer Force.
The town has been the scene of bloody feuding between rival loyalists.
First Minister Mr David Trimble condemned the attack, which he said had "all the bearings of a killing carried out by paramilitaries".
It poses a huge challenge for all of society to deal with these people," he added.
Deputy First Minister Mr Seamus Mallon said there were still people in Northern Ireland who considered murder and violence as a means of asserting their own control over communities.
He said: "There is no such role in a democracy for people to act in this way."
