Police in the North have arrested a man in connection with a car bomb discovered in a crowded seaside town on Tuesday, writes Michael Bradley, in Belfast. The fully-primed device was defused by British army technical officers in Ballycastle, Co Antrim, as more than 100,000 people were visiting the annual Auld Lammas Fair in the town. The Red Hand Defenders, a cover name used in the past for Ulster Defence Association and Loyalist Volunteer Force attacks, claimed that it left the bomb in the town.
