A 17-year-old girl has been found dead in a house in Co Clare.
Gardaí were called to the house just outside Ennistymon at around 3.00 p.m after a man walked into the local Garda station to give himself up . The girl was found fatally injured with wounds to her head.
The 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death,.
He was being held at Ennistymon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act before being transferred to Ennis General Hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.
It is understood the two teenagers were related.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
The girl's body was taken to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Limerick where the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, will carry out a post mortem examination tomorrow.
