A man is being detained in Dublin after gardaí seized €4.5 million worth of cocaine in a major drugs operation in the city.
On Friday evening gardaí raided a house in Perrystown, Walkinstown, and found €3.5 million worth of cocaine during the initial search. A follow-up search on Saturday of the same house yielded a further find of cocaine worth €1 million.
Gardaí found bags, scales and other drugs paraphanalia at the premises.
In another raid on a house in Tallaght, gardaí recovered a large amount of cash and equipment. Two people were later arrested.
A 31-year-old woman was arrested and brought to Sundrive Road Garda station. She was released yesterday and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A 29-year-old man was arrested and detained at Crumlin Garda station. Last night he remained in custody under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act and he can be detained for a period of up to seven days.
