Gardaí have released a man arrested following a two-car collision in Cork yesterday, in which two men in their 20s died.
It is understood a file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man was arrested after crash that killed two men and left two women seriously injured. The two young couples were on their way from Waterford to Cork airport to go on a short break to Amsterdam when their car was involved in the collision at 2.45am yesterday on the N25 at Caherulton, Castlemartyr, Co Cork.
The driver and sole occupant of the other car was arrested at Ballinacurra, Midleton, following an investigation.
The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their bodies were removed to Cork University Hospital. They were named as Brendan Donnelly (24), Beech Drive, Greenfields, Waterford, and father of one Lee Salkeld (26), Fairfield Park, Old Tramore Road, Waterford.
The dead men were passengers in a Volkswagen Polo. The other car, a Ford Mondeo, was travelling in the opposite direction.
