Gardai are expected to launch a murder inquiry today following the discovery of a man's body in a Dublin park yesterday morning.

The 28-year-old man was identified last night and his name is expected to be released today once all his relatives are informed. His body was discovered in a wooded area of St Anne's Park, Raheny, by a passer-by walking a dog. The Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, visited the preserved scene last night. She carried out a post-mortem, which showed the man had sustained a fractured skull and severe head injuries.

Gardai are seeking information on the circumstances of the man's death. He was wearing a brown leather jacket, white Tshirt, cream trousers, black boots and white socks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Raheny Garda station, 01-6664312, or the Garda confidential line, 1800666-111.
