A man charged in relation to an arson attack on Castlebar Garda station is due to appear before Galway District Court this morning.
The man was arrested in relation to a suspected petrol bomb attack in Castlebar Garda station in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 25-year-old suspect walked into the Garda station at around 4am and threw a “flamed object”, gardaí said.
The device was thrown at a hatch in the station which was closed at the time.
Two gardaí who were on duty at the time chased the man as he fled. He was later caught a short distance away and taken to Westport Garda station.
Gardaí said the man was known to them. Castlebar Garda station suffered some smoke damage and was temporarily closed. There were no injuries in the attack.
