A total of 39 charges relating to sex offences were preferred against a 56-year-old man at yesterday's sitting of Tullamore court.
The defendant, who cannot be named, is charged with 28 counts of sexual assault, 10 of buggery and one of attempted buggery. All the alleged offences relate to dates between 1973 and 1976.
The accused was remanded on continuing bail of £1,000 to appear at Tullamore court on November 5th. He was granted legal aid by Judge Aidan O'Donnell and asked for a Dublin solicitor, Mr Garret Sheehan, to be assigned.
