A French trawlerman drowned in Cork harbour after a night out in the pub, Cork Coroner's Court ruled yesterday.
Mr Pierre Lornicol (41), from Plomeur in France, was working on board a trawler berthed in Cork harbour.
He went to the pub with a colleague, but they separated on the way back to the trawler. His absence was not noticed until the next morning.
Garda John McSweeney said there was a two foot gap between the dock and the boat and he could have fallen there.
