A man (36) died today after he became trapped in a cave.
Police, the ambulance service, the Coastguard and a Royal Navy helicopter were involved in the rescue operation at Whitehead on the Co Antrim coast in Northern Ireland.
The man was spotted shortly before 9am today on rocks close to the water's edge. He was taken by helicopter from the mouth of the cave - just below Blackhead Lighthouse - early this morning. He was transferred to Antrim Area Hospital for treatment but died from his injuries.
Police are investigating, and a postmortem will be carried out.
