A man who was injured in a suspected assault in Co Cavan at the weekend has died in hospital.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred during a St Patrick's Day party at a house in Rosehill, Mullagh in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim (22) was removed to Cavan General Hospital to be treated for his injuries before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital when his condition deteriorated.
He was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning.
A postmortem examination is due to be carried out today by the State Pathologist.
The Garda investigation is continuing.
