An elderly man died after he was struck by an articulated lorry while crossing William Street, Limerick, yesterday afternoon. He was dead on admission to the Limerick Regional Hospital but his name was not available, as relatives had not been contacted. He is a native of Hospital, Co Limerick.
Meanwhile a young Kildare boy who was critically injured on Thursday last week when the wall of a derelict building collapsed on him died yesterday in Beaumont Hospital. Cormac Croke (12), of Woodstock Street, Athy, Co Kildare, suffered serious head injuries in the accident, which happened adjacent to his home.
