A MAYO man goes on trial today on 50 charges of raping and sexually abusing his two daughters.
A jury was sworn in yesterday at the Central Criminal Court after the 49-year-old accused man was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to abusing his daughters, who are now in their 20s.
Mr Justice Carney said the trial would start this morning before his colleague, Mrs Justice McGuinness.
The accused man denies charges of rape, unlawful carnal knowledge and indecent assault of one of his daughters on dates from January 1978 and December 1989. He also denied similar charges relating to his second daughter on dates between January 1985 and December 1987.
