A chronic heroin addict who committed a spate of syringe robberies, including three in one hour, has been remanded in custody for sentence by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Mark Kenny also stabbed 20-year-old Ms Mary Dunne twice in the hand with a syringe when he robbed money from the Statoil service station on Castleknock Road.
Ms Dunne is still receiving treatment and was awaiting the results of tests to see if there was a danger of her contracting HIV.
Kenny (29), of Croftwood Crescent, Ballyfermot, was arrested after this offence and has been in custody since. The court heard that on June 28th last Kenny robbed three service stations in one hour in Ballyfermot, Ballymun and Castleknock.
He pleaded guilty to all charges. He has 21 previous convictions.
Judge Yvonne Murphy heard another of his victims tell how her life was ruined by Kenny when she was dragged along the road after Kenny snatched her handbag from a moving vehicle.
Judge Dunne remanded Kenny in custody for sentence on January 14th next. She said because it was such a complex case she needed some time to consider the matter and she also wanted to wait until Ms Dunne had the results of her tests before she sentenced Kenny.
