A 56-year-old Galway man has been found not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court of having had unlawful sexual intercourse with a woman with Down's Syndrome in a special employment centre in 1995.
The jury took just one hour to reach a unanimous verdict after a three-day trial.
It cleared the man of three charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a mentally deficient woman, and one charge of sexually assaulting her on the way back from a work outing.
