A MAN charged with manslaughter has been sent forward for trial in connection with the death of a man in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, last year.

Karlis Ruja (51), a Latvian national with an address at Eiscir Island, Tullamore, Co Offaly, was charged with the manslaughter of Alexey Pekelman at the Coach Yard, Nenagh, on July 15th last.

Mr Ruja, who had been charged previously with assault causing harm in respect of the same incident, had the assault charge dropped against him on the direction of the Director of Public Prosecutions at Nenagh District Court yesterday.

Insp William Leahy told the court the defendant had been presented with a book of evidence in relation to the manslaughter charge and he applied for Mr Ruja's bail conditions to remain in place.
