Man charged with Limerick city murder

A THIRD man was charged yesterday in relation to the murder of a 43-year-old man in Limerick city.

A THIRD man was charged yesterday in relation to the murder of a 43-year-old man in Limerick city.

Ger McMahon was found at the front steps of a house at Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick, with multiple stab wounds on January 18th. He was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Yesterday, Paul Colbert (44), of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, was charged with his murder.

Garda Paul Crowley, of Roxboro Road Garda station, told Limerick District Court yesterday the accused “made no reply” when charged.

Mr Colbert was remanded in custody to appear before the same court via video link tomorrow. Two nephews of Mr Colbert were also charged in connection with Mr McMahon’s murder. Seán Flanagan (26), from Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, was charged with murder, and Ian Flanagan (22), same address, was charged with impeding the investigation. Both were remanded in custody to appear in court today.
