A young man appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering his mother. Mr John Francis Dolan (26), Ravensdale Road, East Wall, Dublin was charged with murdering Mrs Gertrude Dolan (56) at the family home between June 16th and 19th last.
Mrs Dolan and her husband John (71) were found stabbed to death at the Ravensdale Road house. They had been dead for up to 10 days. At Dublin District Court yesterday, their son John Francis was remanded in custody for a week.
Det Sgt Walter O'Connell gave evidence of the arrest and charging of Mr Dolan. He had nothing to say in reply to the charge. Mr Dolan spoke only when asked by Judge William Early if he was working. He said he was not and Judge Early assigned him solicitor Mr Michael Staines from the free legal aid panel. He is to appear again on July 7th.
