A 52-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a boy in a fire 11 years ago.
Stephen Hughes Connors (12) died when the makeshift hut he was sleeping in with a friend was set alight in Tallaght in the early hours of September 1st 2001.
Dermot Griffin, of Ballyfermot Road, Dublin, was arrested by Det Garda John Stack at Tallaght District Court shortly after 10am. He made no reply when charged.
He appeared in court before Judge Anthony Halpin at 11am charged with manslaughter in connection with the fire at Rossfield Avenue, Brookfield, on that date.
He was remanded in custody and the case will be before Cloverhill District Court on November 7th. There was no objection to legal aid.
Members of the deceased boy's family were in court for the brief hearing.
