A Cork man will apply to the High Court next week to vary or set aside an order preventing him from reducing his assets to below £1.65 million.
Mr Patrick McSweeney, of Fairwinds, Waterfall Road, Bishopstown, Cork, is seeking to lift or amend an injunction granted to the Criminal Assets Bureau in April 1997 against him. The action will be heard by Mr Justice O'Sullivan on Thursday.
Yesterday Mr Justice O'Sullivan struck out a judicial review challenge in which Mr McSweeney had sought to quash a 1995 Revenue taxation assessment against him for £1.19 million. Those proceedings were related to a High Court action in which CAB is seeking judgment against Mr McSweeney for £1.49 million.
CAB's application, which is being challenged by Mr McSweeney, is for alleged unpaid taxes and interest.
