Tomás Clancy (29), Kilrickle, Loughrea, Co Galway, has been given a month to come up with compensation. He faces nine charges of entering Broderick’s pub in Kilrickle on nine dates between January 5th and April 17th last year. Loughrea District Court was yesterday told Clancy lived next door to the pub in the Co Galway village and that both families knew each other for years.

Gearóid Geraghty, defending, said Clancy had taken to the bottle. “He took to Mr Broderick’s bottle would be more accurate,” remarked Judge Geoffrey Browne, who adjourned the matter to March 9th.
