Gardai in Navan are investigating the circumstances of an attack by two men on a married man in front of his wife and child. The injured man's 11-year-old son answered the front door to the culprits just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gardai say the men were dressed in combat-style attire and wore black balaclavas. They were carrying a sledgehammer and a can of Mace spray and went into the house, where they assaulted the man in front of his wife and son. The house is in an estate on the Trim Road in Navan.
After the assault the men left on foot in the direction of a nearby housing estate. The injured man was released from hospital after treatment. Gardai say he has made an official complaint, and their investigation is continuing.
