A four-man gang armed with hammers abducted and beat a 27-year-old for several hours, police in the North have said.
The victim was sitting in a car with two other men in the Knockbreda Park area of Belfast on Thursday night when he was taken hostage.
The four kidnappers smashed a window of the car the man was in before abducting him.
Detectives believe the victim was put in a second car and driven to a house in Holywood, Co Down, where he was assaulted several times and held for a number of hours.
The abduction happened just before midnight and the injured man was returned to his home between 1am and 2am the following morning.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
The PSNI have issued a description of one of the suspects who is said to be about 18 years old, 162 cm (5ft4in) and of slim build, with short fair hair. He was wearing a navy hooded tracksuit and gloves.
The car the four kidnappers were in was described as an old- style, dark-coloured VW Passat.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact officers at Musgrave police station or call Crimestoppers.
