Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of a body on a road in Co Wicklow.

The body of a man was discovered just before midnight on Farrenkelly Road, Charlesland, Greystones. Gardaí found the body of a young man lying on the side of the road with what appeared to be serious head injuries. This man, who is believed to be in his early 20s, was pronounced dead by a local doctor a short time later.

A 22-year-old man was arrested shortly after 4pm today in relation to the incident. He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Bray Garda Station.

Deputy State pathologist Dr Curtis is currently carrying out a postmortem on the body.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Farranakelly Road, Charlesland or Farranakelly Close between 11pm and midnight to contact them.
