Two people died in road accidents early yesterday. In Co Galway, a 21-year-old man died after a car in which he was a passenger overturned on an embankment and caught fire. The accident occurred on the Woodford road outside Port umna at about 4.30 a.m.
A 23-year-old woman died when the car she was driving struck a pole at Ridge Road, Portlaoise, at about 4 a.m. A male passenger suffered minor injuries. The woman was named as Ms Eimear Scully, from Hawthorn Drive, Portlaoise.
The 18-year-old pedestrian who died after being struck by a car in Inchicore early on Saturday was Mr Anthony Brennan, from Ballyfermot Crescent.
