Gardai have named the couple whose bodies were found in their Co Meath home on Wednesday.

Seamus Mooney (63) and his wife Janette Mooney (50) were found dead in the bedroom of their house in Navan. They were discovered by a friend and neighbout in their four-bedroom Boyne Road home at around 4.45 p.m. She had become concerned about the couple when she had not heard from them or seen them over the past two days.

A Garda spokeswoman said the results of the post mortem were not available and will only be made public at a coroner's inquest.

"We are concentrating on what happened inside the house. We are not seeking anybody else at this time", she added.

It is believed the Ms Mooney had visible injuries, but the nature of Mr Mooney's injuries, if any, were not known. There was blood in the upstairs room where the bodies were discovered. There were two single beds in the room. It is understood both bodies were wearing night wear.

The couple, who had lived in the area for about 12 years, had four children, all of whom are understood to live in the UK.
