CO MEATH man who allegedly threatened the staff of the Meath Chronicle newspaper in Navan and said he would burn down the premises had his case adjourned for one week at Navan District Court yesterday.
Last week Mr Paul Jacob (19), of Troytown Heights, Navan, was remanded in custody for a week after Judge John Brophy was told he had threatened the staff and their families if his case appeared in the paper.
He was before the court on charges relating to the uttering "of a forged cheque at Trimgate Street, Navan, while bound to the peace on August 2nd last year. Initially Judge Brophy sentenced him to three detention but then accused him of trying to gag the press when the alleged incident at the newspaper was brought to his attention later.
