A CO DOWN man charged with soliciting another male in Dundalk for the purposes of prostitution has been told by Dundalk District Court to stay away from the town or face jail.
Mr Michael Malone (38), with addresses at Ballymagreehan Road, Castlewellan, and Derryleckagh Road, Newry, was arrested on Sunday and released on his own bail of £200 to appear before yesterday's court.
Judge John Nealon was told by Supt Michael Staunton that inquiries were continuing and there could be other charges. The arresting officer, Det Garda Brian Mohan, asked that as a condition of bail, the accused man be directed to stay away from Dundalk, particularly at weekends, until his court appearance.
Mr Tiernan said his client would give that undertaking, and his employment did not take him into the Republic at any time. Judge Nealon remanded him on continuing bail on condition that he did not enter Dundalk and did not come within a 10 mile radius of the courthouse at any time. He adjourned the case to January 22nd.
