A staff member at an employment centre for mentally handicapped adults has been sent forward to the Central Criminal Court for trial on 33 charges alleging sexual offences against women workers at the factory. The 54-year-old west of Ireland man was arrested in July, and 15 of the charges allege he had sexual intercourse with mentally handicapped women.
He also faces charges of attempting to have sexual intercourse with mentally handicapped women and one charge of sexual assault. The charges relate to between February 1992 and September 1996. Judge John Garavan, in Galway District Court, remanded the accused on his own bail of £500.
