A man was charged yesterday with robbing a post office in north Belfast on Monday of £11,000.
Mr Thomas David Kidd (29), from Hopewell Crescent, in the Shankill area, was also accused of unlawfully imprisoning a son of the post-mistress. The teenager was abducted by a number of men and held hostage overnight. He was released after ransom money was handed over. The money was later recovered by the RUC.
Mr Billy McNulty, defending, said Mr Kidd had instructed him to say that he was denying both charges.
Mr McNulty said an application for bail would be made in the High Court in due course.
