Man (49) held over death of woman in Dublin home

A man is being questioned in Dublin after a woman  was found dead in  a house in  south Dublin earlier this week.

A man is being questioned in Dublin after a woman  was found dead in  a house in  south Dublin earlier this week.

Gardaí opened a murder inquiry today after a postmortem on the 37-year-old was carried out in Dublin City Morgue yesterday. She was found dead in the house in Knocknashee, Goatstown, on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí said a man (49) was arrested this morning and is being held in Dundrum Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. It is believed the man and woman knew each other.

Gardaí added  that there were no obvious injuries to the woman's body when examined.

A Garda statement said: "The woman's body was removed to Dublin City Morgue where a postmortem was carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

"The results are not being released for operational reasons."
