A man is being questioned in Dublin after a woman was found dead in a house in south Dublin earlier this week.
Gardaí opened a murder inquiry today after a postmortem on the 37-year-old was carried out in Dublin City Morgue yesterday. She was found dead in the house in Knocknashee, Goatstown, on Tuesday morning.
Gardaí said a man (49) was arrested this morning and is being held in Dundrum Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. It is believed the man and woman knew each other.
Gardaí added that there were no obvious injuries to the woman's body when examined.
A Garda statement said: "The woman's body was removed to Dublin City Morgue where a postmortem was carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.
"The results are not being released for operational reasons."
