Gardaí are investigating a road crash in which a 21-year-old man died last night.
The incident happened at Carraghy, Corandulla in Co Galway, a minor road off the N17 near Knockcloe, at approximately 11.30pm.
The dead man was the driver of a car. His passenger, a man in his twenties, was injured and taken to University College Hospital in Galway. No other vehicle was involved.
The road was closed for a technical examination and has since reopened.

The man's death brings the number of fatalities on the nation's roads over the weekend to four.
GAA player Ciaran Shannon died on Saturday when he was involved in a four-vehicle pile-up at Mullacagh, three kilometres south of Hollywood Cross in Co Wicklow at 4.30pm.
Mr Shannon was driving one of the two SUVs involved in the crash and his wife and three children were travelling with him. His family were released from hospital later on Saturday.
Gardaí at Baltinglass have appealed for the public's help in their investigation.

Gardaí at Cahir are investigating a collision that occurred at about 9.30am yesterday at Abbey Street in Cahir.
A man from Latvia, thought to be in his 30s, was fatally injured when his bike collided with an SUV. His name has not been released yet.
On Saturday afternoon, Karl Brown (24) from Cappagh Drive, Finglas died after a collision between his motorbike and an SUV.
Gardaí at Finglas are investigating the crash that occurred on the Cardiffsbridge Road shortly before 3.30pm.
