THE BRITISH prime minister has accused the Sinn Fein president, Mr Gerry Adams, of being a hypocrite for talking about peace while the IRA murdered a British soldier.
Replying to Mr Adams's recent fax calling for the peace process to be revitalised, Mr John Major stated the British government's position was "extremely clear" and urged the IRA to reinstate its ceasefire.
Clearly referring to the recent killing of Lance-Bombardier Stephen Restorick, who was shot dead by a sniper at a roadside checkpoint last week, Mr Major wrote: "It is hypocritical to be talking about peace when murder is taking place in Northern Ireland."
