Breakdown of €39 billion of Infrastructure Investment Priorities 2010-16:

Transport €12billion
- Some €5.7 billion will be invested in public transport programmes such as Metro North and Dart Underground.
- A further €6 billion will be spent on close out payments associated with the completion of major inter-urban roads and for safety and maintenance works on these routes.

Environment, Heritage and Local Government €8 billion
- Some €4.4 billion is to be invested in social housing programmes and regeneration programmes such as Limerick and Ballymun.
- About €3.4 billion will be invested in upgrading and expanded water services infrastructure in order to meet demand and public health standards.
- A further €500 million will be spread across heritage protection, local services such as fire brigades and libraries, and waste services.

Education and Skills €4 billion
- Some €3.1 is to be invested in upgrading and expanding primary and secondary schools and €650 million is to be invested in higher education infrastructure.

Enterprise, Trade and Innovation €3.8 billion
- About €2.4 billion will be invested through the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutes, Science Foundation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland to drive on the smart economy.
- Some €1.2 billion will be invested through enterprise development programmes of IDA and Enterprise Ireland to ?consolidate and foster the enterprise base?.

Health and Children €2.8 billion
- €1.6 billion will be used to fund the development of acute hospital facilities.
- €780 million will be invested in primary community and continuing care.

Agriculture, Fisheries and Food €1.5 billion
- €600 million to be invested in forestry measures
- €600 million to support on-farm investment and development of the food industry.
