The Loyalist Volunteer Force has threatened to restart its campaign of violence if any harm comes to its new leader, who is being held on remand in Maghaberry Jail, Co Antrim.
In a statement, the LVF "Army Council" said it believed the safety of Mr Mark Fulton was in jeopardy. He is facing charges of possession of explosives. Mr Fulton became LVF leader after Billy Wright was shot dead by INLA inmates in the Maze Prison in December 1997.
