Siptu representatives have attended a conciliation conference of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) to try to break the deadlock in the dispute about the closure at Lagan Brick, Kingscourt, Co Cavan, which was announced on December 15th.
Twenty-nine workers affected by the closure have maintained a 24-hour protest at the plant entrance.
Siptu organiser John Regan said: “The worker representatives and company management attended the conference. The meeting was adjourned until next Monday to allow both sides to reflect on what was presented today [yesterday].”
