Liverpool hope to have Steven Gerrard back in their squad for tomorrow afternoon's Premiership home battle with Spurs.

Gerrard missed the wins in Leeds and Moscow with a hip injury acquired while playing for England the previous week. But he was back in training late this week.

Also expected to be clear of a thigh injury is French midfielder Bruno Cheyrou, who travelled to Moscow but was ruled out for the Champions League match with Spartak. Emile Heskey, with a slight groin problem, should also be fit to play.

Elsewhere, Rio Ferdinand is the most likely of Manchester United's walking wounded to return against Aston Villa at Old Trafford tomorrow.
