Cases of alcoholic liver disease increased by 200 per cent during the boom years, research to be presented today has found.
The study also showed an increase of 188 per cent in the mortality rate from the disease between 1995 and 2009.
The research was carried out by Dr Aiden McCormick of St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, and Dr Deirdre Mongan of the Health Research Board .
