Gardaí in Limerick are investigating the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl on the night of the Junior Cert exam celebrations.
Detectives are seeking up to three people in connection with the incident, which is alleged to have taken place at 11-11.30pm on Wednesday night in Augustinian Lane, off Catherine Street, in the city centre.
It is understood the victim has told gardaí she was dragged down the alleyway by a number of people, where she was raped.
The 16-year-old raised the alarm shortly after the incident and was taken to Cork University Hospital where she was treated at the sexual assault unit.
A Garda spokesman confirmed that the victim, who was recovering at home yesterday, has been interviewed by detectives.
The scene at Augustinian Lane was sealed off yesterday morning for forensic examination while CCTV footage from city centre cameras is also being examined.
