ONE OF the country’s oldest BMW dealerships has closed with the loss of 45 jobs.
Pat Keogh Ltd in Limerick has been based in the city for almost 40 years.
In a statement yesterday the company blamed the difficult trading environment for its decision to wind up the business.
Staff at the BMW premises on the Tipperary Road were told of the decision to close at 6pm on Wednesday evening.
The entire stock of new cars was removed from the yard and showroom yesterday.
Meanwhile, the chairman of a Government-appointed taskforce set up in the wake of the loss of 1,900 jobs at Dell in Limerick has warned that the unemployment rate in the midwest could increase to 16 per cent.
In an interview with the Limerick Leader, Denis Brosnan, chairman of the Mid West Regional Task Force, revealed that the the midwest was shedding jobs at a higher rate than the national average.
