The Howth lifeboat in north Dublin rescued two men today in separate incidents.
The Howth inshore lifeboat went to the aid of a man stranded at Whitewater Ruck, just north of Baily lighthouse, this morning.
A spokeswoman said the RNLI crew was asked to assist after a member of the public alerted gardai that the man was lying on the rocks at the bottom of the cliff.
The voluntary lifeboat crew transferred the man, who was in his 40s, to the lifeboat with the assistance of a garda.
"He was then brought back to Howth Lifeboat station where a waiting ambulance took him to Beaumont Hospital. The man was disorientated and had suffered lacerations to his back,"
the lifeboat spokeswoman said.
Shortly after the voluntary crew had returned to the station, they had to relaunch to come to the aid of a kite surfer who was in difficulty off Burrow beach.
The man was taken aboard the lifeboat and returned safely to the beach.
Voluntary lifeboat crew member Lorcan Dignam said: "Busy days like today illustrate to the public how their voluntary contributions help the RNLI to continue saving lives at sea."
