Two fisherman who got into trouble while collecting shellfish in Northern Ireland were rescued last night.
The Portaferry RNLI Lifeboat was called to the aid of a 16ft cabin cruiser which experienced engine failure in Strangford Lough.
The cruiser was towed to safety at Ringhaddy Sound, north of Killyleagh, Co Down. Both occupants were reported to be safe and well.
"It can be frightening suffering engine failure at any time of year, but in the dark and with temperatures rapidly dropping, we were especially pleased to get the occupants to safety quickly," said Portaferry Lifeboat operations manager, Brian Bailie.
Portaferry volunteer lifeboat crew members have launched 640 times since 1980 and have saved 95 lives.
