Tripoli - Libya has scrapped the majority of its score of ministries, including the important oil ministry, and transferred their functions to municipal councils, state television said yesterday.
The only ministries remaining will be those of justice and security, foreign affairs, finance, and information, but the five ministers heading them have been sacked. The parliament, known as the General People's Congress, which has been holding its annual session in the eastern city of Sirte since Sunday, was expected to appoint new ministers later yesterday, state television said.
