Leinster to face Newcastle tomorrow night

Leinster’s twice-postponed European Cup match against Newcastle will be played at Headingley, Leeds, at 7.30 p.m. tomorrow.

Leinster’s twice-postponed European Cup match against Newcastle will be played at Headingley, Leeds, at 7.30 p.m. tomorrow.

The game, originally scheduled for Saturday had been in doubt all week because of the freezing conditions the north-east of England was experiencing.

On Saturday morning, match referee Gareth Simmods deemed the Kingston Park pitch frozen and unplayable.

It was then hoped the pitch would thaw out overnight and that the game could be played on the Sunday.

However, with the surface still frozen in places, Simmods postponed the fixture once again.

After yesterday's decision to postpone, Newcastle director of rugby Rob Andrew accused Leinster of pressurising the referee into his decision.
